HAMDEN, CT (CelebrityAccess) — American rapper, hype man, and radio personality Isaac Freeman III, better known by his stage name, Fatman Scoop, died after collapsing on stage during a performance in Connecticut. He was 53.

The rapper was performing during a music festival in Hamden, Connecticut on August 30th when he experienced a medical emergency. He was taken to a local hospital via ambulance, where he later passed away.

Scoop’s tour manager confirmed his passing on social media but did not provide any additional details about a cause of death.

Known for his powerful voice and collaborations with artists such as Missy Elliot and Mariah Carey, Scoop first made a name for himself in 2003 when his single, “Be Faithful,” which he first released in 1999, landed on the UK charts.

He went on to work with artists such as Lil Jon, Janet Jackson, and Skrillix, among others.

Along with his work as a musician, he also was featured in the UK TV series Chancers, where he mentored aspiring musicians and was a contestant on the reality show Celebrity Big Brother 16: UK vs. USA but was eliminated from the competition.

In 2024, he collaborated with Tech N9ne on the single “No Popcorn” and released a pair of new singles on August 30th, the day he died.

Following his passing, his family shared a tribute to the late rapper on social media:
