WINTER PARK, FL (CelebrityAccess) – Full Sail University is thrilled to announce that the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter and rock legend Elvis Costello will be the latest recipient of the prestigious Industry Icon Award. The award will be presented during the Industry Icon Award ceremony, part of Full Sail University’s annual Hall of Fame week.
Costello’s involvement with Full Sail has offered valuable real-world learning opportunities for students. Earlier this year, before Costello’s tour launched in January, he held a multi-day closed set rehearsal at Full Sail Live. Over 500 students and staff from Full Sail’s Audio Production, Recording Arts, and Show Production programs participated, gaining insight into Costello’s renowned career and creative songwriting process on some of his beloved hits.
The university’s professional production staff worked closely with Costello’s touring crew to prepare for the tour, providing Show Production students with hands-on, behind-the-scenes experiences in various crew positions.
During the event, Costello was joined on stage by Full Sail Recording Arts graduate, 2009 Full Sail Hall of Fame inductee, 6-time Grammy award-winner, 14-time Latin Grammy award-winner, and Producer/Engineer on multiple Costello releases, Sebastian Krys. They discussed their unique journeys in the music industry, the development of some of Costello’s notable projects, and their collaboration on 11 releases together. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (R&RHoF) in 2003, Costello has collaborated with legendary artists across various genres, including The Roots, Bruce Springsteen, Burt Bacharach, and Paul McCartney.
“We are honored to name Elvis Costello as our Industry Icon Award recipient this year,” said Jay Noble, Full Sail’s VP of Alumni and Events. “Elvis has provided our students with real-world learning opportunities, creating unique educational experiences on our campus. His ongoing collaboration with Full Sail graduate Sebastian Krys continues to inspire our university community.”
