CALOUNDRA, Queensland (CelebrityAccess) — Australia’s Caloundra Music Festival has become the latest of a growing number of Australian festivals to be canceled for 2024 amid the rising cost of living in the South Pacific nation.
Organizers announced plans to pause the event for 2024 in a post on the festival’s website:
“We are devastated to inform you all that we have had to make the very tough decision to cancel the 2024 Caloundra Music Festival. Our much-loved festival has joined a number of major events Australia-wide to be paused due to higher operating costs and the impact of cost-of-living pressures on ticket sales,” organizers said.
According to event organizers, they hope to revive the festival in 2025.
“We know this will be a shock and great disappointment to so many people, but we are hopeful that an improvement in market conditions will allow the festival to return in 2025. In the meantime, we encourage you all, wherever possible, to support other venues and festivals by purchasing tickets early so event organizers have the confidence to keep putting on music events,” festival organizers said.
The council-backed festival debuted in 2007 and had been approved for two events in 2024 and 2025. Past lineups have included Missy Higgins, Empire of the Sun, The Veronicas, Powderfinger, and Angus and Julia Stone, among others.
