LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) – Position Music, under the leadership of President and CEO Tyler Bacon, has successfully acquired the publishing catalog of the renowned French artist, DJ, and producer Gesaffelstein. The agreement grants Position Music ownership and administration rights to the publishing catalog before Gesaffelstein’s Sony Music Publishing (SMP) deal, notably including the critically acclaimed 2013 Aleph album.
This comprehensive deal encompasses the publishing catalog and Gesaffelstein’s writer, artist, and producer royalties for his entire body of work. This includes his 2019 Hyperion album, featuring the multi-platinum single “Lost in the Fire” with The Weeknd, and collaborations with HAIM and Pharrell Williams. Notable works like his contributions to The Weeknd’s songs “I Was Never There” and “Hurt You” and production on Kanye West’s iconic track “Black Skinhead” are also part of the acquisition. Additionally, it includes his collaborations with A$AP Rocky, KayCyy, and others.
Gesaffelstein, recognized by his birth name Mike Levy, stands as a trailblazer in the global electronic music scene, known for his dark, industrial beats and enigmatic stage presence. Recently announced as a headlining act for Coachella 2024, Gesaffelstein’s popularity soared in 2013, establishing him as a prominent figure in major festivals worldwide over the past decade.
Bacon expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “The Gesaffelstein catalog is an incredible acquisition. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for us when it comes to acquiring high-profile publishing and record catalogs. Gesaffelstein is an immensely-respected, aggressive electronic artist that is also highly sought after in sync. This is a perfect combination for Position Music. The team and I are proud to represent Gesaffelstein and consider it an honor that Mike would entrust his catalog to us.”
It’s worth noting that Gesaffelstein will retain his future royalties and remains under contract with SMG and Columbia Records. Gesaffelstein’s management is handled by Alexandra Pilz Hayot of Savoir Faire, and Live Nation represents him in France, Switzerland, and Belgium, while Wasserman oversees the rest of the world.
The artist’s notable achievements include multiple Grammy Award nominations for his music featured in films like John Wick: Chapter 4 and commercial campaigns for major brands such as Giorgio Armani, Toyota, BMW, Johnnie Walker, and more.
