TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) — The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced the nominees and the next round of performers for the 53rd Annual JUNO Awards.
Montreal-born singer-songwriter Charlotte Cardin topped the list of nominations this year, earning a total of six nods, including Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year, and the TikTok JUNO Fan Choice award.
R&B artist Daniel Caesar and up-and-coming rock artist TALK both earned five nominations each this year. Caesar is nominated for TikTok JUNO Fan Choice, Single of the Year, Album of the Year, Artist of the Year* and Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year; while TALK is up for Single of the Year*, Album of the Year*, Breakthrough Artist of the Year*, Songwriter of the Year* and Alternative Album of the Year.
Other nominees for 2024 include folk star Allison Russell, who picked up nods for Songwriter of the Year*, Contemporary Roots Album of the Year and Music Video of the Year, and 2023 JUNO Awards performer Aysanabee, who was nominated for Songwriter of the Year*, Alternative Album of the Year and Contemporary Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year.
Performers announces for the 53rd Annual Juno Awards include Josh Ross, Karan Aujla, and TALK, who join the list of previously announced artists that includes The Beaches, Charlotte Cardin, Nelly Furtado and Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee Maestro Fresh Wes, who will be honored during a special moment presented by TD Bank Group.
During the awards gala, CARAS will also honor industry veteran, entertainment lawyer and artist manager Chip Sutherland, who will be this year’s recipient of the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award. The award recognizes individuals whose work has significantly impacted the growth and development of the Canadian music industry. The award is named after the legendary Canadian publisher and co-founder of The JUNO Awards.
The Juno Week festivities kick off on March 21st, leading up to the official JUNO Awards Broadcast on Sunday, March 24. The 53rd annual Juno Awards will be hosted by Nelly Furtdado and will take place live at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, starting at 8PM EST.
