REDSTONE ARSENAL, AL (CelebrityAccess) — Following the success of the cinematic release of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, movie presenter AMC announced that a critically acclaimed documentary on U2‘s 1997 concert at Koševo Stadium in Sarajevo, Bosnia will begin a theatrical run on February 23rd.
The film, Kiss The Future, is Directed by Nenad Cicin-Sain, and follows a screenplay by Bill Carter, based on his memoir: Fools Rush In. The film recounts the experiences of an underground community enduring the siege of Sarajevo during the Bosnian war who used music and art to effect change, leading to U2’s historic performance in the city in 1997.
The film was produced by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Sarah Anthony, and features Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, Christiane Amanpour, and Bill Clinton.
“Even in the darkest times, the people of Sarajevo were able to find purpose through playing music, making art, and helping others. They did not just survive, they thrived,” said Director, Nenad Cicin-Sain.
“The powerful message of peace is as relevant and important today as it was in September 1997 when Bill Carter and Sarajevan community leaders brought U2 to post-war Sarajevo,” said Matt Damon. “Artists Equity is proud to bring Nenad’s wonderful, life-affirming film to theater audiences across the United States.”
The film’s theatrical run kicks off at select AMC locations in the U.S. on February 24rd, following a preview on February 21st.
