TORONTO (CelebrityAccess) – Santa Anna Label Group, a joint venture between Sony Music Entertainment (SME) and ToddMoscowitz, Founder and CEO of Alamo Records, has announced an investment and partnership with indie Canadian record label OVO Sound, co-founded by Noah “40” Shebib, Oliver El-Khatib, and Drake.
Through the collaboration, Santa Anna and its partners will provide OVO Sound with additional support in A&R, production, finance, marketing, and artist services. The goal is to enhance OVO Sound’s business, attract top Canadian and international artists, and foster growth.
Based in Toronto, OVO Sound will continue to operate as a stand-alone record label distributed and marketed through Santa Anna. OVO artists were previously distributed by Warner Music Group/ADA/Warner Records, but that agreement ended in early 2023, per MBW.com.
Moscowitz, founder of Santa Anna, said: “After 10 years, it’s exciting to reunite with Drake, Morgan, 40, Oliver, and the OVO Sound team to collaborate on new ways to support their impressive roster of artists. Together, I look forward to working with a best-in-class management team to develop opportunities to help scale their business and take their artistry to new heights.”
Santa Anna has recently closed deals with several music industry executives, including Lucas Thomashow (JV label – SANA) and Baroline Diaz (Great Day Records).
“OVO has always been about music first,” said OVO Sound president Mr Morgan. “Together with Drake, 40, and Oliver, we’re excited to partner with like-minded people in Todd, Lee, and the Santa Anna team. We feel strongly that the combination of our teams will allow for both our current and future artists to flourish.”
OVO’s current artist roster includes PARTYNEXTDOOR, Popcaan, Smiley, and more.
