Bruce Springsteen put the lie to rumors of a potential retirement for the rock icon, telling fans at a recent show that he’s not planning to quit anytime soon.
During a concert in Philadelphia last week, Springsteen assured his fans that he wasn’t going anywhere for the foreseeable future.
In fan-made video from the show, Springsteen tells the audience “We’ve been around for 50 f**king years and we ain’t quitting,” adding, “We ain’t doing no farewell tour bullsh*t. No farewell tour for the E Street Band.”
He went on to ask “Farewell to what? Thousands of people screaming your name?,” before adding, sarcastically, “Yeah, I wanna quit that.”
Springsteen, who is 74, has faced a series of health problems for his current tour, including vocal issues that sidelined him for three shows earlier this year and a peptic ulcer that led him to reschedule more than 20 shows in late 2023.
The band’s current tour is scheduled to wrap in November with a final performance at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
Springsteen is scheduled for a series of shows in Europe in 2025, including performances in France, the Czech Republic, and Italy.
