NASHVILLE (CelebrityAccess)—Reach Music Publishing Inc. (Reach) has acquired select publishing assets and songwriter shares from multi-platinum-awarded songwriter Wyatt Durrette, it was announced today by Michael Closter, President/Founder and Owner of Reach Music.
This acquisition includes interests in 29 of Durrette’s compositions, and Reach also has global administration rights for its share of these acquired rights. The copyrights include Durrette’s interest in songs he co-wrote with Zac Brown, such as the breakthrough hit “Chicken Fried” (9X RIAA-certified platinum), as well as the singles “Toes” and “Whatever It Is” from Zac Brown Band’s debut album, The Foundation.
In addition to Zac Brown, Durrette’s has co-written with Luke Combs, including the single “Beautiful Crazy,” which has been certified Diamond (10x Platinum) by the RIAA. This song is also included in the Reach acquisition.
Wyatt’s longtime publisher, Richard Blackstone of Blackstone Entertainment, remains Durrette’s publisher and will co-administer the select songs included in the Reach acquisition with Reach Music.
“This is a thrilling moment to have concluded an acquisition agreement with Wyatt Durrette, an A-level award-winning songwriter,” said Closter. “Reach Music has been the publishing administrator for Zac Brown for 12 years, and we’ve always been familiar with Wyatt Durrette and his incredible works with the Zac Brown Band, starting with “Chicken Fried” and his recent works with Luke Combs. This marks Reach’s largest acquisition in the country space, and we couldn’t be more excited than to have done this deal with Wyatt.”
Reach’s agreement with Durrette comes shortly after the company’s other acquisitions of classic catalogs in different genres, including recent copyright acquisitions for Judas Priest and Chuck D of Public Enemy.
Adam Ritholz and John Brill of Ritholz Levy Fields LLP represented Durrette in the transaction, while Jeff Sacharow of The Sacharow Firm, P.C. represented Reach Music.
