(CelebrityAccess) — Former White Stripes guitarist and lead vocalist Jack White surprised fans with the release of a secret solo album.
The album, which was released on Friday, was secretly slipped into the shopping bags of some fans who were shopping at retail locations for White’s Third Man Records in Nashville, Detroit, and London.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the album, which came with a generic sleeve, resembled a white vinyl test pressing, with no artist and no titles for the multi-track release.
The only markings on the album, apart from a blue “No Name” stamp were the inscriptions “Heaven and Hell” and “Black and Blue” in the run-off grooves, the Free Press reported.
Third Man has not included the album in the new release section of the label’s website. It is unclear if a formal release for the unnamed album is pending.
The label did acknowledge the release via social media, sharing an image of the album along with a statement: Today you have proven that the quiet rumblings of something mysterious can grow into the beautiful experience of a community sharing the excitement and energy of music & art.
