LONDON (CelebrityAccess)—Warner Chappell Music UK (WCM UK) has announced that Andrew Howell will be the new vice president of sync starting June 1. In this role, Howell will continue reporting to Rich Robinson, Executive Vice President (EVP) and Global Head of Sync at WCM UK and Shani Gonzales, Managing Director (MD) at WCM UK and Head of International A&R.
Having joined WCM UK in 2016 after working at Universal Music Group and Sony/ATV, Howell has been a key player in winning multiple awards for the sync department at Warner Chappell.
His team has established strong client relationships, resulting in significant placements with gaming companies like EA and Space Ape and successful campaigns with brands such as Lexus, Persil, and Cruzcampo. Notable film and TV projects include One Day, The Crown, Saltburn, and Back To Black.
The team at WCM UK is also innovating ways to connect brands with emerging writers. One notable project was the Joy Anonymous (Henry Counsell) showcase for mobile network EE, which produced bespoke music for its campaign.
Howell’s team hosts monthly sync writing sessions at Warner Chappell’s London studios.
Robinson said, “Andrew embodies Warner Chappell’s proactive approach to sync.”
Recent collaborations include working with WCM France to produce a Dua Lipa cover of George Michael’s “Freedom ’90” for Yves Saint Laurent; securing a cover of “It’s The Hard Knock Life” from the musical Annie for Dove’s 2024 Super Bowl ad; and coordinating with David Bowie’s estate to feature multiple songs in global Paco Rabanne campaigns.
Howell expressed his enthusiasm: “It’s a privilege to champion our songwriters, and I’m committed to placing their music in interesting, fresh ways. And it helps to work with such a talented, creative and dedicated team! I’m excited to collaborate even more closely with colleagues worldwide as we evolve Warner Chappell’s global sync offering.”
Gonzales praised Howell: “Andrew’s collaborative spirit has helped him build relationships with the songwriters and clients who trust him. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of our songbook and an unrivaled instinct for what placements will work. He’s also an amazing mentor to his team, so this is a well-deserved promotion.”
