SYDNEY, AUS (CelebrityAccess) – At the end of the year, Tim Worton, ASM Global Group Director of Arenas, APAC, will leave ASM Global and his long career in live entertainment to embark on a different journey – full-time studies at Moore Theological College in Sydney, where he plans to study and work in pastoral, chaplaincy, or ministry roles.
Worton has spent 33 years in the entertainment industry, including 25 years with ASM Global (formerly AEG Ogden). He currently manages venues like Qudos Bank Arena (Sydney), Brisbane Entertainment Centre, and RAC Arena (Perth).
“Tim has been a great ambassador for our organization. He has made an admirable and life-changing decision to follow his faith, and we applaud his decision and wish him well. Tim’s leadership and executive management of the arena portfolio are demonstrated by the continued growth of the Group’s arenas through innovation and ongoing development of entertainment content for audiences,” said ASM Global (APAC) chairman and CEO Harvey Lister.
Worton’s career change was announced during the 31st Asia Pacific Venue Industry Congress at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre (BCEC). Worton expressed his gratitude to Lister, Rod Pilbeam, Group Director of Venue and Event Innovation, APAC, and the ASM Global team, saying,
“They have given me amazing opportunities that I will always cherish. Harvey has been incredibly supportive of my decision to go in this vastly different direction, allowing flexibility in my role. I am very grateful for his support and encouragement. Rod has been a great mentor to me over my 25 years with ASM Global, and I am indebted to him for the important role he has played in my life.”
When asked to choose the greatest onstage highlight of his career, as reported by The Music Network, Worton has one clear choice: “An almost impossible task,” he remarks. “If I’m forced to choose, I’d go with Bruce Springsteen.”
