ZURICH, Switzerland (CelebrityAccess) — Just weeks before the gate was due to open, organizers for Switzerland’s Vibiscum Festival announced that the event will not be taking place in 2024.
Event organizers announced the decision in a post shared on the event’s website:
It is with a heavy heart that we announce today the cancellation of our long-awaited third edition. This decision was not taken lightly, but unfortunately, current circumstances force us to give up this event that we cherished so much.
Organizers cited low ticket sales for the cancellation, stating that the lack of fan enthusiasm made it impossible for the event to cover the costs of artists and vendors for 2024.
The statement continued, noting:
After the first two editions, we had to increase ticket prices to cover the increasing costs of organizing the festival. We are aware that this increase may have dissuaded some people from participating in this adventure, and we are deeply sorry for this.
We also understand that this year’s programming may not have generated as much excitement as we hoped. It has become increasingly difficult to find well-known artists at affordable prices, especially those who have not recently performed in the area.
We are deeply disappointed and saddened not to be able to realize our dream of offering the inhabitants of Vevey the festival they deserve and remain, despite everything, proud of the first two editions.
Additionally, in making the announcement, festival organizers said they were unable to provide refunds for fans who have purchased tickets to this year’s now-canceled event.
Due to the financial difficulties we are facing, we regret to inform you that we are unable to provide ticket refunds at this time. We understand that this may be frustrating and we sincerely apologize for this situation.
However, event organizers continued, noting that they are seeking a “fair solution” for fans who did purchase event passes.
