AUSTRALIA (CelebrityAccess) – Sony Music Publishing (SMP) has recently acquired the entire song catalog of Kevin Parker, the talented Australian musician and producer otherwise known as Tame Impala. This move expands on their existing partnership, which began over a decade ago in 2009. Last year, SMP inked a deal with Parker to represent his future songs worldwide. Now, this new agreement covers both his existing collection and any future creations.
Parker’s brainchild, Tame Impala, is renowned for its psychedelic rock sound. He’s been the driving force behind the band, writing, producing, mixing, singing and performing every song on their albums, including Innerspeaker, Lonerism, Currents, and the latest, The Slow Rush, which soared to the top of various charts.
“The idea of passing on ownership of my songs is one that I don’t think about very lightly at all. They are the fruit of my blood, sweat and creativity over all the years I’ve been a recording artist and songwriter so far,” said Parker.
Beyond Tame Impala, Parker has left his mark on the music industry, with songwriting credits spanning various artists from Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Daft Punk, The Weeknd, Miguel, The Wiggles and more.
