NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Independent publisher Primary Wave Music announced a new partnership with the legendary singer, songwriter, pianist and former teen pop idol Neil Sedaka.
Sedaka launched his career in 1957 and has gone on to tour the world, selling millions of albums and writing or co-writing more than 500 songs, both for his own use and for artists such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Connie Francis, Abba, and the Monkees, among others.
Throughout his long career, Sedaka has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, performed countless sold-out shows, been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The deal with Primary Wave will see the music publisher partner with Sedaka on his music publishing for all compositions written by him, as well as Sedaka’s master recording rights for all recordings, including the #1 international hit “Oh! Carol,” his Top Five classic “Calendar Girl,” the Top Ten “Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen,” and the evergreen standards “Solitaire” and “The Hungry Years” among others.
The deal will also see Primary Wave participate in Sedaka’s branding rights over Sedaka’s name and likeness while providing Sedaka with access to Primary Wave’s marketing team and publishing infrastructure, which includes digital strategy, licensing, synch opportunities, and film & TV production.
“I am thrilled to be entering into this partnership with Primary Wave – an organization that I have long-admired for their unwavering commitment and dedication to the artists they represent. After almost 70 years in the music business, I’ve gotten pretty good at separating the big talkers from the real deals, and Larry and his team at Primary Wave are about as real deal as it gets. I look forward to a long and prosperous relationship that will allow me to work side by side with this amazing organization and finally give my extensive collection of songs the attention and exposure it deserves,” Sedaka said, announcing his deal with Primary Wave.
“We are thrilled to welcome Neil Sedaka into the Primary Wave family. As both a singer and songwriter, Neil has created an iconic catalog that has transcended decades and genres. We look forward to continue creating new opportunities for his timeless songs together,” added Primary Wave’s Finance & Investments Manager Madeline Boyd.
