LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Comedian and actor Richard Lewis, known for roles in films such as “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” and the HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm” has died. He was 76.

Jeff Abraham, a publicist representing Lewis, confirmed his passing to multiple media outlets on Wednesday, stating that Lewis died at his Los Angeles home after suffering a heart attack.

Lewis was battling other health maladies, including Parkinson’s, revealing to fans that he had been diagnosed with the incurable disease last year.

A veteran comic, Lewis began his career doing open mics around his hometown of New York City. He made his acting debut in Diary of a Young Comic, a made-for-TV comedy that appeared on NBC in 1979.

He went on to become a late-night regular, appearing on shows such as “Late Night,” “The Tonight Show,” and “The Late Show with David Letterman.”

Other roles included “Daddy Dearest” with Don Rickles in 1993 and the 1995 Mike Figgis-directed drama “Leaving Las Vegas.”

More recently, he was cast as a fictionalized version of himself in the long-running HBO comedy series “Curb Your Enthuiasm.”
