NASHVILLE (CelebrityAccess) – The Grand Ole Opry House, renowned as the iconic home of the world-famous Grand Ole Opry, is gearing up to celebrate its 50th Anniversary on Saturday (March 16). This milestone coincides with the date the venue opened its doors with a star-studded show attended by President and Mrs. Richard Nixon 50 years ago. Today, the Opry House is the epicenter of Country Music, receiving accolades such as the current ACM Theater of the Year and a Venue of the Year nominee at the upcoming CMA Touring Awards. Recognized for its profound impact on popular culture, entertainment, and the communications industry, the Opry House earned a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

To mark this significant anniversary, the Opry will pay tribute to three members who performed during the venue’s opening night in 1974 and will be gracing the stage again 50 years later: Bill Anderson, Jeannie Seely, and Connie Smith. The special show will also feature performances by other Opry members, including Mandy Barnett, Clint Black, The Gatlin Brothers, Del McCoury, Gary Mule Deer, Don Schlitz, Riders In The Sky, and Mark Wills.

In celebration of the Opry House’s rich history, backstage tours starting from the anniversary weekend will showcase a collection of artifacts spanning the venue’s 50 years. Notable items include the jumpsuit Dolly Parton wore on the opening night of the Opry House and featured on the cover of her “Love Is Like A Butterfly” album, designed by Lucy Adams. This anniversary celebration reflects the Grand Ole Opry House’s enduring legacy and cultural significance in music and entertainment.
