HERTFORDSHIRE, UK (CelebrityAccess) — Organizers of the award-winning independent Standon Calling Music Festival announced that the event has been postponed and will not take place in 2024.
The festival, which is now in its 18th year, was slated to take place from July 25-28 in the London suburb of Hertfordshire, but will now take place from July 24-27, 2025, organizers said.
The festival team attributed the decision to press pause on Standon Calling this year to the high costs of staging the event in the current “very challenging” economic climate.
In a post on the fest’s website announcing the decision, organizers stated:
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the difficult decision to postpone the 18th edition of Standon Calling until 2025. Over the last few months of hard work planning our return this summer, it has become clear that the costs of running the event, already considerably higher over the last two years, have significantly increased again, making it practically impossible for us to deliver the fully-formed Standon Calling you Standoners have come to love, expect and deserve this year.
The painful truth is that plowing on in this very challenging climate could risk the future of the festival. We believe that the only sensible decision is to take a fallow year for the very first time in our history (other than during the height of COVID-19) and use this time to make the 18th Standon Calling one for the ages.
This is not a decision we have made lightly and we have explored every avenue possible to welcome you back in 2024. Sadly, the situation is not unique to us. So many festival teams work hard all year round to deliver unforgettable weekends of memories in the face of unprecedented financial challenges. Over the last few weeks, several other independent festivals have been postponed for similar reasons.
According to organizers, fans are urged to roll any tickets purchased for the festival to 2025, offering an additional adult weekend ticket for those who do so. Fans will be contacted by their ticketing agent with options, including a potential refund, organizers added.
