UNCASVILLE, CT (CelebrityAccess) — Connecticut’s Mohegan Sun Arena has been named as the inaugural Casino Venue of the Year during the 35th annual Pollstar Awards on Wednesday.
“With over 1,200 casinos in the U.S., we are honored to represent the industry’s best entertainment, a tribute to the hard-working men and women who run it – when you put people first, great things happen,” stated Tom Cantone, President of Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment Worldwide.
The award is the latest accolade for the area, which was also named the Best Casino Venue for Live Entertainment in America by Newsweek’s readers in December.
“Both are a recognition of excellence for our entertainment reputation and the Mohegan Sun Brand…..tour managers have told me when they see Mohegan Sun Arena on the routing, they circle it because they can relax,” Cantone added.
He went on to thank the Pollstar Conference’s Ray Wadell and the Sun’s partners at Live Nation.
Cantone also paid tribute to the late superstar agent and longtime friend, Kenny DiCamillo, who passed away in November.
“On a personal note, I dedicated this special night to Kenny DiCamillo, a longtime agent and Friend For Life,” Cantone said.
