RIIHIMAKI, FINLAND (VIP-Booking) – Tampere Hall, the renowned Finnish concert house, is actively planning a new, extensive event and cultural center in Riihimäki, Finland. The objective is to bring the appealing cultural and event hub, Voimala, into operation by 2027, aligning with the scheduled housing fair in Riihimäki. Akun Tehdas from Ylöjärvi and two other operators are collaborating in this joint initiative.
In a collaborative effort, the city of Riihimäki, Tampere-Hall’s subsidiary, Talo Events Oy, and Aku’s Factory (a part of Aku Tehtas) are jointly orchestrating the establishment of a novel event and cultural center in Voimala, situated near Riihimäki railway station.
The confirmation of the letter of intent hinges on the approval by the Riihimäki city government on Tuesday (January 30). The overarching goal is to inaugurate the Voimala culture and event center by 2027, coinciding with Riihimäki’s housing fair.
The vision is for Voimala to be a significant attraction for Riihimäki, akin to Fotografiska Tallin’s role in Tallinn for the Telliskivi area. Voimala, a red brick building complex spanning approximately 5,000 square meters, is located in the Riihimäki station area.
Tampere Hall’s CEO, Paulina Ahokas, underscores their interest in the project, citing the growth strategy of Riihimäki, the city’s pivotal role in events, its strategic location as a central hub for train connections, and its proximity to both Tampere and Helsinki.
“Both Voimala as a property and Riihimäki as a city offer the flexibility to host various events, ranging from meetings and business gatherings to fairs, exhibitions, and concerts,” says Ahokas.
Ahokas emphasizes that the Tampere building will continue to be the crown jewel for the group in the future, showcasing international ballet performances and concerts. “I believe that being involved in the Voimala project only brings synergistic benefits for us. The growth corridor between Helsinki and Tampere will generate new events, making it more advantageous for us to cooperate rather than compete.”
