LONDON (CelebrityAccess) – Tom Stingemore, a seasoned figure in the music industry, formerly of Hipgnosis, has unveiled ALLOY Sync Distro, an innovative, new platform poised to transform the sync licensing process in the music industry.

Sync licensing, a legal process to obtain permission to use copyrighted music in visual media projects like movies, TV shows, commercials, and more, is a crucial aspect of the industry. ALLOY Sync Distro aims to tackle longstanding issues related to manual workload and lost revenue in sync deals by introducing a centralized platform with a standardized format.

Stingemore, the former Global President of Sync and Creative at Hipgnosis, who also held senior sync roles at Universal Music Group (UMG) and BMG, envisions ALLOY as a game-changer for the industry, stating,

“Sync is arguably the last area of the music industry to be modernized. With ALLOY, I wanted to build something that can not only enhance [artists’ and songwriters’] collective outlook but also improve the service that we can provide to our commercial partners across the wider entertainment industry. I’ve spent my career to date working to further the interests of the world’s greatest artists & songwriters, and with ALLOY, I wanted to build something that can not only enhance their collective outlook but also improve the service that we can provide to our commercial partners across the wider entertainment industry.”

The platform’s approach is centered around standardizing licensing and approvals to create a more accessible global sync marketplace. This, in turn, is expected to benefit artists, songwriters, record labels, and publishers. Stingemore emphasized the need for modernization in this music industry sector, stating, “For too long, the process for licensing our artists’ & songwriters’ music has been arduous, disjointed, and fractured. Without a robust and coherent way for our potential commercial partners to license our music in a timely, effective, and scalable way, we are leaving far too much revenue on the table while at the same time imposing a wholly unnecessary workload upon ourselves.”

ALLOY Sync Distro’s collaborative approach with the industry aims to provide a comprehensive solution that caters to the needs of both rights holders and brands, potentially revolutionizing the sync licensing landscape. Sync licensing is a significant revenue stream for musicians and songwriters, and a well-placed sync can boost an artist’s profile and reach a wider audience.

It’s a song that rocked the charts back in 1985, making waves and gaining its fair share of success. Fast forward to 2022, and it takes on a whole new life. Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” experienced a global resurgence because it found a sweet spot in the fourth season of the binge-worthy series Stranger Things on Netflix.

This is the magic of sync licensing – where the right song in the right scene can catapult an artist into a new realm of recognition. TBush’s “Running Up That Hill” is a testament to the impact a well-placed sync can have on an artist’s profile and reach a broader and more diverse audience.
