CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (Celebrityaccess) – TR3 featuring Tim Reynolds, has confirmed it will release a new studio album, Watch It, on Friday (January 19). Fronted by two-time Grammy nominee Tim Reynolds, the illustrious trio will resume its U.S. tour with several appearances in the northeast, starting with a sold-out show on January 18 in Portsmouth, NH, before advancing to the midwest with stops in OH, IN, IL, and MO.

TR3 has previewed the forthcoming record with the release of its titular single, “Watch It.” The spirited instrumental number affirms Reynolds and Co.’s unequivocal craftsmanship and deep-rooted chemistry and is available for download and streaming on all major listening platforms. Listen and share here.

“Acoustic just gives you a more personal voice,” Reynolds says. “And I’ve started playing the acoustic more and more as I’ve gotten older. It’s a steady sonic platform, but it also gives one a chance to use it as a voice like a singer.”

With a more than four decades-long career, Reynolds is lauded as one of the most adept and unrivaled instrumentalists ever. Through innumerable contributions to the American music canon, Reynolds continues to demonstrate effortless guitar virtuosity, masterful command of melody and timing, and uncanny improvisational prowess, evidenced both in his role as lead guitarist for Dave Matthews Band (DMB) and frontman of long-held experimental project TR3. Founded in the mid-1980s, the trio welcomed Dan Martier and Mick Vaughn on drums and bass, respectively, in 2007 and now remains a fixture in the international jam scene.

On the heels of its 2019 studio album, The Sea Versus the Mountain, and 2022 live release, Wild in the Sky, the group will soon unveil a fresh batch of compositions written and arranged during the pandemic-prompted off-season. Recorded at Haunted Hollow – the private studio of DMB – in Charlottesville and produced by DMB chief engineer/studio manager Rob Evans.

“Rob is so seamless as an engineer/producer,” Reynolds says. “He’s so passive, but he’s also a great teacher who doesn’t say anything about how he’s teaching you because he’s doing his magic — he’s like a band member.”

The highly anticipated collection features ten mostly instrumental numbers that see the trio in its most perceptive, harmonious, and imaginative form yet. A striking tapestry of funk, jazz, and rock, Watch It boasts several innovative arrangements that both defy classification and invoke boundless musical curiosity. Soon joining the trio’s extensive catalog of critically-celebrated releases, fans can expect a one-of-a-kind musical spectacle that places TR3 at the top of its game.

“I guess I’m lucky that things you thought would happen and things you didn’t think would happen, well, did,” Reynolds says. “Over the years, you’re trying to find a balance. And I’m lucky to be able to do two things that I really love with TR3 and DMB — it’s nothing but gratitude.”
