BALTIMORE, MD – Music Will, the acclaimed non-profit organization transforming young lives through multi-genre music programs, has announced the appointment of Mike Wasserman to Chief Executive Officer (CEO) beginning January 16. Wasserman’s multi-decade experience working in education focused on non-profits is an invaluable fresh asset to the Music Will team.
Currently the Vice President for Growth and Development at the Constructive Dialog Institute, an organization that helps students and adults learn to engage more productively across differences, Wasserman previously held roles, including Executive Director of the Boston Debate League and Executive Director at Bottom Line.
In his new role, Wasserman will lead the organization, including through its next 5-year strategic plan, with a priority on exponentially scaling its mission to reach more students directly through its modern band programming while also evangelizing the pedagogy that influences how students can learn to be lifelong music makers.
Wasserman said, “I am honored and excited to be joining Music Will as the organization’s next CEO. Music has played a transformational role in my life – as a shy and reserved child, my school’s music program gave me a place to build my confidence, strengthen my voice, and connect deeply with friends and family. To this day, my closest friends are the people who have come into my life through our shared love of music.
In every conversation I’ve had with members of the Music Will community, that same passion for music feels so present – it’s energizing and inspiring. And I love that at the heart of this organization is a commitment to centering students’ talents and passions and the educators’ dedication and brilliance. I hope to partner with our staff, board, and Music Will community to help teachers transform how their students experience music education in every community nationwide.”
