SEVILLE, Spain (CelebrityAccess) — The Latin Grammys took place in Seville on Thursday night, marking the first time in the award show’s 24-year history that the event has taken place outside of the United States.

Colombian recording artist Karol G took top honors, taking home the award for album of the year for her chart-topper Mañana Será Bonito, as well as the trophy for best urban/fusion Performance for TQG, which featured a guest appearance from fellow Colombian artist Shakira.

Other artists nominated for album of the year included Pablo Alborán’s La Cu4rta Hoja, Paula Arenas’ A Ciegas, Camilo’s De Adentro Pa Afuera, Andrés Cepeda’s Décimo Cuarto, Juanes’ Vida Cotidiana, Natalia Lafourcade’s De Todas Las Flores, Ricky Martin’s Play, Fito Paez’s Eadda9223, and Carlos Vives’ Escalona Nunca Se Había Grabado Así were the other nominees in the category.

Record of the year, which recognizes a single, went to Mexican recording artist Natalia Lafourcade for her hit “De Todas las Flores,” while Venezuelan newcomer Joaquina, was lauded as the best new artist for 2023.

Song of the year and the best pop song went to Argentine producer Bizarrap for his hit ‘Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53’, which features the legendary Colombian recording artist and became famous amid her relationship issues with ex Gerard Piqué.

Edgar Barrera, who went into this year’s Latin Grammys with an impressive collection of 13 nominations, managed to claim just 3 trophies for composer of the year, producer of the year, and best regional Mexican song.

The 2023 Latin Grammys took place at the FIBES Conference and Exhibition Centre in Seville, Spain, and were hosted by Colombian singer Sebastián Yatra, Mexican singer Danna Paola, Puerto Rican actress Roselyn Sánchez, and Spanish actress Paz Vega.
