NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — The NFL announced plans for a ‘re-imagined’ Pro Bowl for 2021, meaning that for the first time in more than 70 years, the league’s all-star game will not take place in 2021.

The news of the cancellation of the in-person all-star game comes as the NFL struggles with its first season in the era of COVID-19, and just 6 weeks in, 12 games have been postponed or rescheduled as a result of positive Covid-19 tests.

While the game won’t take place in person next year, the NFL will continue to recognize the contributions of players this year and fans can vote for the 2021 Pro Bowl Roster, beginning on November 17th.

The NFL plans to reveal the full Pro Bowl rosters in December, the league said.

Additionally, the league will work closely with the players association and other partners, to create other online activities to replace the Pro Bowl in 2021.

The NFL also announced that the 2022 Pro Bowl will be awarded to Las Vegas and take place at Allegiant Stadium.

This continues the league’s partnership with the Raiders and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, who are also scheduled to host the 2022 NFL Draft.
