LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — Sony’s “Jumanji: The Next Level” finally dethroned Disney’s “Frozen 2” to top the weekend box office with better-than-expected $60.1 million North American debut.
The action-comedy stars Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Danny Glover, Danny DeVito, Alex Wolff, Dania Ramirez, Nick Jonas, Rhys Darby, Karen Gillan, Ser’Darius William Blain, Awkwafina, Morgan Turner, Madison Iseman and is directed by Jake Kasdan.
Meanwhile, “Frozen 2” continued its own box office run, crossing $1bn in global cume this week with $366.5 million from North America alone. This weekend, “Frozen 2” added $19.182 million from domestic theaters and $55.7M internationally, making it the 11th biggest animated film in history.
Rounding out the top 3 was the Lionsgate comedy “Knives Out,” which added $9.25 million in its third week in North America, adding to its total cume of $162.2 million to date worldwide.
