(CelebrityAccess) – YouTube is partnering with Merchbar on a new integration that will allow artists to sell their official merchandise underneath their videos.
Carrying more than 1 million items from 35,000 artists, Merchbar is one of the largest music merchandise aggregators worldwide.
The deal enables artists with Official Artist Channels to post their merch on a merchandise “shelf” that will sit below their video descriptions on YouTube. Fans who wish to purchase merchandise from an artist can then do so by clicking through to Merchbar’s website.
“With placement below the videos on both mobile and desktop, the merch shelf is a tremendous opportunity for artists to drive awareness and get their latest gear in the hands of fans,” said YouTube in a statement.
To celebrate the launch, superstar DJ and producer Marshmello has created a limited-edition soccer jersey exclusive to Merchbar and YouTube.
According to YouTube, it’ll be rolling out the feature in the US first with plans to expand globally in the near future.
Artists with an Official Artist Channel on YouTube and a Merchbar store with U.S fulfillment enabled can sign up for the merch shelf through YouTube Studio now.
