(CelebrityAccess) – Vice Media has announced an exclusive deal with Spotify for three original podcast series.
The move is part of Spotify’s wider push to grow its non-music audio and nonfiction podcast content on the platform.
According to Variety, the three Vice News-produced podcast series will combine “long-form narrative, talk, and investigative journalism, covering the 2020 U.S. election and current events worldwide.”
The first new podcast coming to Spotify under the deal is the 12-episode series “Uncommitted: Iowa 2020,” which is slated to launch November 12. The series takes a look at the “process and history behind the Iowa Democratic caucuses”. The second eight-part podcast slated to launch in 2020, explores the opioid crisis in the US, while a third podcast centered on ‘Vice News’ global political coverage’ is expected to launch later in the year.
Overseeing the Vice News deal are Spotify’s Head of Creative Development Liz Gateley and news and documentary lead Natalie Tulloch.
