BALTIMORE, MD (CelebrityAccess) — Caesars Entertainment Corp. and Caves Valley Partners are eyeing downtown Baltimore as the home of a brand new 4,000-seat concert venue.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the proposed concert venue, The Paramount Baltimore, will be situated on the site of what is currently occupied by an unused warehouse on land adjacent to M&T Bank Stadium and about a block away from Caesar’s Horseshoe Casino Baltimore.

The proposed $50 million, 80,000-square-foot concert venue is on track to break ground in the Spring with a projected opening date of 2021, according to a statement the developers provided to The Sun.

When it opens, the Paramount Baltimore may have some competition. As the Sun noted,  other real estate developers are working to revive the Baltimore concert mainstay Hammerjacks next year.

Slated to re-open sometime in 2020, Hammerjacks will be located just a few doors down from the proposed location of The Paramount Baltimore.

When it re-opens, it will be the third iteration of the long-running Baltimore nightspot. The club, which originally opened in 1997, was one of the city’s leading concert venues in the 1980s, hosting artists such as Guns n’ Roses, The Ramones, Dave Mathews Band, Iggy Pop, Blondie, Joan Jett.

The club shuttered in 1997 but reopened 3 years later, primarily as a dance club but closed again in 2006.

When it opens, the new Hammerjacks will be located at the site of the former Paradox Nightclub at 1300 Russell St, just one block over from the planned location of the Paramount.

According to its website, when Hammerjacks re-opens, it will feature two live entertainment performance spaces, a full menu tavern, an outdoor beer park, retail space for multiple tenants, 30,000 square feet of modular private event space and Hammerjacks’ management offices.
