HOUSTON (CelebrityAccess) — The Who were forced to cut short a concert in Houston Wednesday evening after lead singer Roger Daltrey lost his voice eight songs into the band’s set.

Daltrey struggled through “Who Are You,” before telling the audience, “I think I should quit while I’m ahead.” Lead guitarist Pete Townsend apologized, saying Daltrey “cannot actually speak now,” and adding “apparently, before the show he saw a doctor, and, you know, he’s been singing so fucking great through this tour. I don’t know what the fuck’s going on. He has been on top of his game.”

The band was also forced to postpone concerts scheduled for Friday (Sept. 27) in Dallas and Sunday (Sept. 29) in Denver.

Townshend announced via Instagram late Thursday afternoon that Daltrey had come down with bronchitis. He also said the shows would be rescheduled for April or May of next year.

The Who’s new album, Who, is due out on November 22.
