(CelebrityAccess) — Alex Trebek, host of the popular television quiz show Jeopardy! is back at work for the upcoming 36th season of the program after completing a course of chemotherapy.
In March, Trebek announced that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer and later recorded a video in which he stated he’s determined to “beat the low survival rate statistics for this disease.”
He also joked that he has to survive because he’s under contract to host Jeopardy for the next three years.
While undergoing chemo, Trebek remodeled his family’s bathroom, posting a photo essay on the construction project.
Despite Trebek’s upbeat outlook, his long-term prospects are not hopeful. The American Cancer Society estimates that just 3% of patients diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer live for more than 5 years.
