STOCKHOLM (CelebrityAccess) – A Swedish prosecutor said Tuesday (Aug. 27) he won’t appeal a verdict against American rapper A$AP Rocky and his two bodyguards who were found guilty of assault for a June 30 street brawl in Stockholm, reports The Associated Press.

On Aug. 14, Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, and his bodyguards — David Rispers, Jr. and Bladimir Corniel — were convicted of assault and given “conditional sentences,” meaning they won’t serve prison time unless they commit a similar offense in Sweden again. The trio was also ordered to a pay a total of 12,500 kronor ($1,310) in compensation to the victim, according to AP.

During the trial, Mayers, who was in Sweden as part of a European tour at the time of the assault, pleaded self-defense claiming he had tried to avoid a confrontation with two men, one of which was the victim, 19-year-old Mustafa Jafari. Mayers said the two men, who appeared to be under the influence of drugs, were persistently following his entourage despite repeated requests to leave them alone. A full-scale brawl ensued shortly afterward.

All three men spent a month in Swedish custody, before being freed on Aug. 2nd ahead of the verdict. The Stockholm District Court has since dismissed Rocky’s plea of self-defense.
