MINNEAPOLIS (CelebrityAccess) – Prince’s estate has today (Aug. 27) announced that it will take over management of the late rock star’s Paisley Park studio complex near Minneapolis

Graceland Holdings — which operates Elvis Presley’s Graceland mega-tourist attraction in Memphis and has been running Paisley as a museum since October 2016 — will no longer oversee the musical landmark as of Oct. 1.

According to The Star Tribune, Sharon Nelson, the oldest of Prince’s six surviving siblings, has said that the family is not unhappy with Graceland Holdings or making the decision for economic reasons, rather they are taking over management of Paisley because the contract is about to expire.

A new Paisley Park executive director is expected to be named, while two longtime Prince associates, Trevor Guy and Kirk Johnson, will likely continue in their roles as creative adviser and Paisley Park estate manager, reports The Star.

Prince died of an accidental overdose at Paisley Park on April 21, 2016. He was 57.
