AMSTERDAM (CelebrityAcess) — Ticketmaster has agreed to refund service fees for tickets to canceled concerts to customers in the Netherlands.
According to RTL Nieuws, Ticketmaster, which is the largest ticketing vendor in the Netherlands, agreed to the change following pressure from Consumentenbond, a consumer advocacy group and scrutiny from trade regulators the Authority for Consumers and Markets.
The Consumers’ Association had urged the ticket seller to adjust its policy because there was no legal basis for not providing a refund to consumers for canceled events, Consumentenbond said.
The service fees varied from €2 euros to more than €10 euros per ticket, Consumentenbond reported.
FollowingTicketmaster’s decision to provide full refunds, Consumentenbond called on other ticket vendors in the marketplace to follow suit.
German company CTS Eventim is second largest ticketing vendor in the market and still retains service fees for canceled events, however, the ACM has requested that they follow suit as well, RTL Nieuws reported.
