MISSISSAUGA, ONT. (CelebrityAccess) – A Canadian woman got a big surprise from Taylor Swift earlier this week when the pop star sent her $6,386.47 to pay for her university tuition.

According to the Toronto Star, Ayesha Khurram of Mississauga, Ontario, who is a second-year accounting and financial management student at the University of Waterloo, had been struggling to figure out how to pay for her tuition and rent for the upcoming semester after the provincial government announced severe cuts to the Ontario Student Assistance Program earlier in 2019.

As the daughter of two immigrant parents working low-wage jobs and with her mother also struggling from chronic kidney disease, Khurram could not turn to her family for financial help, reports the Toronto Star.

At the advice of one of her friends, Khurram decided to set up a PayPal account in the event people wanted to help her out and donate money. A few hours after she created the account, she reportedly received an email notifying her that Swift had sent her $6,386.47 to pay for her tuition along with a note that read: “Ayesha, get your learn on girl!” the message read. “I love you! Taylor.”

Naturally, Khurram, who has been a Taylor Swift fan since 2009, saw the message and freaked out. She told the publication that Swift has been liking her online posts since 2015.

This is not the first time the pop star has given money to her superfans for post-secondary education purposes. In 2015, she sent Rebekah Bortniker a check for $1,989 in order to pay off her student loans in the United States, according to USA Today.
