(CelebrityAccess) –Former Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss was forced to pull out of a benefit concert and her upcoming tour with Portland-based indie rockers Quasi and Slang after she was injured in a car accident.
In a post to her social media, Weiss said: “Hey Friends, I have some bad news. I was involved in a car accident last weekend in which my right leg and left collarbone were broken. My recovery time is about 12 weeks so regretfully, I won’t be able to play the Quasi Border Benefit or the upcoming Quasi/Slang west coast tour.”
“As thoroughly bummed as I am about canceling the shows, I’m also incredibly thankful the accident wasn’t worse and so happy to be alive. “I am lucky my injuries will heal and I’ll be back at it in a couple months.”
Weiss went on to thank the medical professionals who treated her as well as her family for their support while she’s on the mend.
Weiss served as a drummer for the punk band Sleater-Kinney for more than a decade, but announced she was leaving the group in an apparently amicable split in late June.
