MEMPHIS (CelebrityAccess) – The National Civil Rights Museum has announced that musician John Legend, feminist writer Gloria Steinem and Nigerian human rights activist Hafsat Nabiola have been selected as this year’s Freedom Award recipients.
Legend is being recognized for his efforts to promote social justice and equality through his music, Steinem for her efforts leading several organizations promoting gender equality and the rights of women and girls, and Nabiola for her efforts as president of Women in Africa, a group that supports African women with high potential, and the Kudirat Initiative for Democracy.
The awards will be presented on October 30 at The Orpheum Theater in Memphis.
