MIAMI (CelebrityAccess) – Ultra Music Festival will make its return to downtown Miami, The Miami Herald has reported.
City commissioners voted 3-2 Thursday (July 25) to approve an agreement with the three-day electronic dance music event, which will return to Bayfront Park in March 2020.
Commissioners previously voted not to renew a contract with the festival last fall, following widespread complaints from downtown residents who oppose the event’s large crowds and heavy traffic.
As a result, Ultra organizers moved the festival to Virginia Key this past spring, however, logistical issues and additional sound complaints prompted them not to seek another year at the new location.
Ultra Music Festival was founded in 1999 by Russell Faibisch and Alex Omes and is named after the 1997 Depeche Mode album, Ultra. The event draws tens of thousands of electronic music fans and performers from all over the world.
