VERNON, NY (CelebrityAccess) — Officials with the Town of Vernon have again rejected Woodstock 50’s third application for a permit.
According to a letter from the town’s attorney, obtained by WKTV-TV, the permit was rejected by a variety of reasons that include missed permit submission deadlines, as well as significant concerns regarding public safety, event security, traffic, and parking.
Several elected officials, including the county’s executive and sheriff, have been vocal in their opposition to the festival, noting that it will be difficult to produce an event of the proposed scope of the festival and ensure the public’s safety.
The latest appeal marks the fourth time officials have rejected permit applications from festival organizers, including an appeal of one of the rejections.
It is unclear what path forward, if any, remains open for the festival. The event is scheduled to take place in three weeks and it lacks a venue, and has not yet sold tickets.
A rep for the festival declined to comment.
