Manhattan

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Following a blackout that affected a 30 block area of Midtown Manhattan on Saturday night, Jennifer Lopez’s Madison Square Garden performance, which was evacuated after the outage, received the most press but it was far from the only show that was affected.

The blackout, which began at about 6:47 PM last for about 3 hours and affected hundreds of thousands of people, including New York’s tony Times Square neighborhood.

On Broadway, the lights went out an hour before curtains and theaters canceled performances but, according to the New York Times, cast members from some productions cheered disappointed theater-goers with impromptu street performances.

As well, the Millennial Choir, who were scheduled to perform at New York’s Carnegie Hall on Saturday night, instead performed in the streets as well.

Other public events impacted by the blackout included standup set by comedian Dave Chappelle, who was performing as part of a Broadway residency. Chappelle has since rescheduled his performance for July 21st.
