BARRIE, Ontario (CelebrityAccess) — Ticketing and event management platform Eventbrite announced that they are stepping in to provide refunds to ticketholders in the wake of the collapse of the Roxodus music festival.
The inaugural edition of the festival, which had previously announced headliners Aerosmith, Kid Rock, Nickelback, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, among others, was abruptly cancelled at the last minute with organizers citing inclement weather conditions.
In a statement from Eventbrite, the company said it has yet to receive communications from festival organizers but plans to provide refunds at its own expense.
“After multiple attempts to communicate and secure funds back from the Roxodus organizers, they have provided no indication that they will be issuing refunds to ticket holders. We believe attendees deserve to get their money back now, so we have set up an Eventbrite-funded Fan Relief Program to make all Roxodus ticket holders whole while we continue to aggressively pursue the return of funds from the festival’s creators,” Eventbrite said in a post on the festival’s Eventbrite page.
“If you purchased a ticket to Roxodus on Eventbrite, there is no action necessary on your end. We are transferring funds back to you immediately and you can expect to see them reflected on your credit card or bank statement within seven business days,” the statement added.
Fab Loranger, a co-owner of event organizer MF Live, declined to comment to Toronto City News, saying he would “let the truth speak for itself in due course.”
