BROOKLYN (CelebrityAccess) Louis C.K. made a surprise appearance t the SkankFest Comedy Mayhem Festival Sunday Night in Brooklyn, N.Y., and received a loud standing ovation at his introduction.
The comedian, who has been in near-seclusion since admitting to inappropriate sexual behavior but has made occasional appearances at comedy clubs, was received with such rousing acceptance that people literally jumped up and down at his introduction.
He apparently started his set by addressing the controversy, telling the crowd, “If you never masturbate in front of someone, ask them first. If they say yes, don’t do it,” according to TMZ.
The promoter, Luis J. Gomez, has been working a long time on getting Louis C.K. to join in the festival but the comedian agreed only a few days ago, according to TMZ.
The appearance was met with criticism, with many reminding people on social media of Louis C.K.’s previous behavior.
“When you book an abuser or bigot or hate group leader on your show or podcast, all it says to me is that you’re desperate,” wrote comedian Sara Schaefer.
The festival included Bill Burr and “SNL” member Michael Che.
