MANCHESTER, TN (CelebrityAccess) — With Bonnaroo 2019 launching today, some fans have reported experiencing heavy traffic on the road to the popular music festival, which reported it has fully sold out for the first time in several years.
According to local news outlet WTVF, traffic on the shoulder of Interstate 24 has come to a standstill as festivalgoers descend on the event, which opened its gates for campers at 8 PM on Wednesday.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation said that traffic in the area is expected to remain heavy until at least 7 pm on Thursday night.
“As in past years, TDOT and THP have coordinated with local partners to make sure that traffic traveling through the Manchester area on I-24 can move efficiently, and festivalgoers are able to safely and quickly access the Bonnaroo festival site,” said TDOT Commissioner Clay Bright. “Because of advance planning, we feel certain that we can successfully minimize traffic delays throughout the weekend,” a rep from TDOT said in a statement on Monday.
That appears to be cold comfort for some festival fans, some of which reported waiting in traffic for more than twelve hours, while other users took Bonnaroo organizers to task for the long queue.
