SAN DIEGO (CelebrityAccess) – Cameron Crowe’s Oscar-winning auto-biographical film Almost Famous is getting a theatrical reboot.
Almost Famous: The Musical will be directed by Tony Award nominee Jeremy Herrin (Wolf Hall: Parts 1 & 2, Noises Off) and feature music by Tom Kitt, with lyrics by Kitt and Crowe.
Just like the film, which is based on Crowe’s early life as an aspiring rock journalist, the play will trail a once-sheltered, 15-year-old William Miller as he navigates the depths of the sordid Seventies rock world while trying to complete his first assignment for Rolling Stone.
Almost Famous: The Musical is set to open on September 13 at San Diego’s Old Globe Theatre and run until October 20.
