DUBAI, UAE (CelebrityAccess) — Dubai’s The Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing announced the launch of a state-sponsored sponsorship program to invest in live event growth in the emirate.
According to the Department of Tourism, the program, dubbed the “Leisure Events Sponsorship Scheme” is aimed at driving “innovation, maturity, and sustainability across Dubai’s events industry.”
The scheme targets sport, entertainment and/or cultural events and allows for event organizers to apply for sponsorship for events taking place from May 1st, 2019 onwards.
Requirements for sponsorship eligibility include events that are ticketed, open to the public and that the event producer has, or is eligible to apply for a Leisure Event Permit.
The new sponsorship program comes as Dubai is making a bid to drive tourism to the Emirate. Dubai is seeking to increase tourism numbers to the theocratic monarchy to 20 million visitors a year as the country prepares for the 2020 World Expo.
