NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – New York Supreme Court Justice Andrea Masley has dismissed portions of a lawsuit filed by former Metropolitan Opera music director James Levine against the company last year, according to the Associated Press.

Levine, who served as the Met’s music and artistic director from 1976-2016 and later as its music director emeritus, was fired in March 2018 following an investigation by the Met that yielded evidence of sexual abuse and harassment, reports AP.

In the days that followed, Levine filed a suit against the Met claiming breach of contract and defamation.

On Tuesday, Judge Masley reportedly dismissed all but one of the defamation claims, breach of contract.

Levine is seeking $5.8 million in damages.
