LONDON (CelebrityAccess) Robert Smith has confirmed that the first album for The Cure in a decade is in the final throes of completion.
“We’ve enjoyed [the shows] and we’ve just recorded a new album for the first time in 10 years,” Smith said on the John Maytham Show, adding that, “I’m still doing this for the right reasons.”
However, Smith said on a following interview with 5Fm that the band “just started, [but] not quite finished, recording our first new album for 10 years.”
The last album, 4:13 Dream, garnered gushing press but, of course, in a world where such things don’t matter, got little airplay
The Cure is about to be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and has starring roles at heady events Glastonbury and Fuji Rock this summer.
