LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) Dick Dale, 81, influential “surf” guitarist and a leader of rock ‘n’ roll in general, has died.
Dale passed away Saturday, according to Sam Bolle, Dale’s live bassist, telling TMZ “He was an original, he always did things the way he wanted to do them … his own way. Long before punk rock, he was doing that.”
Dales, originally a percussionist, was more than just a guitar player, creating an entire generation of players who followed his lead, from Jimi Hendrix to Eddie Van Halen. He was reintroduced to the public with the intro to the movie “Pulp Fiction” with the song “Misirlou.”
