CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess) A grand jury indictment yesterday has “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett facing 16 felony counts for allegedly staging an attack on himself in Chicago.
It is alleged that Smollett staged the attack with the help of two brothers, then claimed he was attacked by white racists. The grand jury indictment first had Smollett charged with one felony count of disorderly conduct for filing a false police report.
According to CBS Chicago, the indictment says “Jussie Smollett knew that at the time … there was no reasonable ground for believing that such offenses had been committed.”
Smollett was eventually arrested for the Jan. 29 incident and released on $100,000 bail
