LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) As HBO debuted “Leaving Neverland,” the Michael Jackson Estate released a full-length concert film of MJ on YouTube that happened to run exactly the same length as the devastating documentary.
The four-hour documentary chronicles the sexual abuse allegations against the former pop star by Wade Robson and James Safechuck, two young proteges of Jackson who spent a considerable amount of time at Jackson’s Neverland Ranch in Santa Ynez, Calif.
During the initial airing, the Jackson estate uploaded two performances of the famed sibling: “Live In Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour” from 1992 and “Live At Wembley” from the “Bad” Tour in 1988. The Bucharest show has a run time of two hours and two minutes, the exact same length as “Leaving Neverland” part one.
The Times of London said that the decision was made during the last week. The Bucharest video had 173,283 views at press time.
“Leaving Neverland” director Dan Reed was recently asked by the NME why he felt compelled to make the documentary.
“We had to establish that this wasn’t close physical contact of an innocent kind. This was full-on sexual activity. And that’s why there are these rather brutally graphic scenes described in the film,” he said.
